It’s a beautiful summer day. There is no reason to feel anxious, no reason to feel bad. And yet, something is happening that forces me to an inner awakening, a glimpse into my heart.
It appears unexpectedly, uninvited but present. Who would expect it? Not even I.
Envy. A feeling I am familiar with, resurfacing after some time. I know what it is to envy—a friend, a sibling, a man, a woman, the rich, the poor… You can envy anyone for anything: family, wealth, poverty, perspective, creative thinking and action...
I am glad to be experiencing it. I thought I would feel only good from now on. But? Everything is as it should be. This realization is here to remind me that something is keeping me on my toes. It’s good to remain vigilant and not be lulled by just positive feelings, fulfilling work, sincere friends, the shining sun, and the blue sky.
This feeling of envy stirred sadness within me, and suddenly I played a song that someone reminded me of this year—a person in a tent accompanying the singer-songwriter Šany Šanclová, on the eve of the Journey for a Song festival.
For comfort, I listen to this incredibly beautiful music. I’ve known it since my youth. Roman Dragoun caught my attention many years ago, but he also slipped from my memory. So here he is, for me and for you.
